We aim to be one of the greenest cities in the world by 2030. We recycle over 180 thousand tonnes of composted materials and 130k tons of biodegradable landscaping waste, on top of the tons of recyclable materials from individual household and residential buildings every year. This is just where we are today. By 2030, the Green Vision plan for sustainable San Jose has made us a leader in ecologically conscious cities, with our goals focusing on people, community, and the future of our planet. Our goals include creating 25,000 new jobs in the tech industry, cutting out household energy use in half, and having a completely non-polluting energy grid from renewable energy sources.
